Makes us feel upset, empathy, sympathy for Martha

-We forgive Martha for keeping a secret about Jim because she is also suffering.

Why do you think the author writes all of these things about Jim? Good story telling, Builds suspense and tension, Makes us feel sorry for Jim, Feel anger at the parents

 Women iron look after children, take children to school, teachers, help in kitchen not paid, do washing, have children. They don't cut there hair and don't wear makeup. If women get pregnant they have to keep the baby.

Men get to work work with machines build stuff and are allowed to do jobs were their hands get dirty.

Girls as young as 12 and up have to work in the kitchen.

grow there own produce and look after there own meat.

The community all has the same clothes and the clothes get mixed up so they don't own their own outfits they have to share.

Don't get an option if they want to be vegetarian they have to eat meat.

don't get to choose when you get married and you don't get to choose who you marry, most never speak before they propose/get proposed to.

You have to ask the elders for permission to use internet 

you can't date the same gender you have to date and marry the opposite gender

when you go on a first date you can't touch each other and there is an adult there watching you.

children work as age? as soon as you are able to do things like holding a  vacuum or make a bed or any other jobs they have to do it. Girls when they're as young as 12 have to work and help in the kitchen every morning before school and have to make dinner for everyone in the community

women love the appreciation and don't mind living there.
