Hunt for the wilderpeople by Taika Waititi is a movie based on true events of what kids/people go through when going through foster care. Ricky develops close relationships with the people that are fostering him. And eventually starts to feel as though he belongs. One of the important relationships that is in the film is between Ricky and Hector.
Hector and Ricky’s relationship was not that strong at the start. Ricky was not feeling the happiest he was very shy and did not want to open up. In the scene where they are at Bella’s funeral it shows an establishing shot. An establishing shot is to show where they are at that point in time.
It makes such a big difference to see how some people live on a daily basis compared to me where I don’t have to worry about having to leave my home. I don’t have to worry about going back to juvy. I feel like there is always someone I can talk to and have a genuine conversation with them about my feelings and worries where as for some people they don’t get that. I think that we can help by talking to people and show respect and interest about what they have to say and to make them feel included.
In the middle of the movie when Paula tries to bribe Ricky to sell Hector out using food. But releasing what she is up to, Ricky refuses to fall for Paula’s trap and remembers the importance of family. A film technique used is a dialogue when Ricky says to Paula “you don’t trade family for anything”. A dialogue is when there is a convection between two of the characters.
Closer to the end of the movie when Ricky and Hector were spending a lot more time together their relationship got a little stronger and Hector finally allowed Ricky to call him Uncle
causing their bond to grow stronger.
At the end their relationship was good and they felt as though they could trust one another. And they didn’t feel as awkward around each other. High-key lighting and Low-key lighting
High-key lighting is where the lighting is bright and makes the scene look happy and bright. Low-key lighting is where the lighting is dark and gloomy to make the scene look sad or scary.
Hunt for the wilderpeople is about a boy who has been going through foster care for as long as he can remember. And after what feels like forever he finally finds a home where he feels safe and as though he can express himself.
You did a very good job of explaining things.
